The Highway Traffic Team plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the safety and functionality of our road network, crucial for supporting the community’s well-being and economic development.
Our focus encompasses the application of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and adherence to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD), ensuring our roadways are efficiently managed, safe and meet legal standards.
By implementing these regulations, we aim to address various challenges, including road safety, traffic flow, and the environmental impact of transportation.
We are currently seeking a Senior Highway Engineer (Traffic) with specialised expertise in TROs and TSRGD to provide valuable experience and insights to our team.
This individual will contribute significantly to our efforts in drafting, implementing, and reviewing TROs, progressing to map baseed orders, as well as ensuring that all traffic signage and road markings are in compliance with TSRGD guidelines.
The role involves collaborating with planning and enforcement teams to develop and apply effective traffic regulation strategies that enhance road safety, manage traffic flow, and support the needs of the community.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the legislative framework surrounding TROs, TSRGD and an interpretation of Road Safety Audits, combined with practical experience in their application within a local authority or similar environment. Strong analytical skills are essential for assessing the impact of traffic regulation measures, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders is crucial.
This position does not require leading the team but focuses on providing expert advice and support to ensure our traffic regulation initiatives are effective, compliant, and aligned with our strategic objectives.
