Persimmon Homes announce planning permission for East Sussex development

Persimmon Homes South East has been granted approval for a new development in Stone Cross, East Sussex following a vote by councillors at Wealden District Council.

The green and attractive scheme will see 90 new homes built that have been specifically designed to reflect the character of this part of East Sussex. As well as this bespoke design, the development will also see 116 new trees planted, walking routes and trails around the site and an innovative community amphitheatre installed. The amphitheatre is a unique feature of the site and will provide an inclusive space for the whole community to enjoy.

The new development will offer a range of 1-4 bedroom homes covering the full spectrum of starter homes as well as larger family homes, helping to meet the housing needs of Wealden. 32 homes will also be made available for either shared ownership or affordable rent through a Housing Association partner.

As well as the impressive green credentials of the site, Persimmon Homes South East will also be investing over £800,000 into local public services and community infrastructure. Recognising the importance of drainage in Wealden, the developer will also be installing a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) on site, which has been supported by Southern Water and East Sussex County Council, as the Lead Local Flood Authority.

Kerri Bland, Planning Director of Persimmon Homes South East said: ‘Our scheme at Stone Cross is a high-quality, green and attractive site and I’m delighted that we have been able to secure approval for these plans.

‘Wealden is an important area for us, and it was pleasing to see councillors recognise the efforts we made to produce a design that reflects the character of Stone Cross.

‘These 90 new homes, including 32 homes for affordable rent or shared ownership, will help to meet the housing needs of the community and we’re very much looking forward to getting on site early next year.’
